Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-07
In short: we do not operate a game account or game-progress server, and your saved progress stays on your device. The game uses Google Mobile Ads for optional rewarded ads. Its SDK may automatically collect and share device and app data for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, including when you are not watching an ad. Details and controls are below.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the mobile game Robinson Crusoe: The Castaway's Journal (Android package identifier com.austronesiatw.robinsoncrusoe) and to this website, which presents the game.
Throughout this policy, “the app” means the mobile game and “the site” means this website.
2. Information the game does not ask you to provide
The game has no account system or first-party game server. The game itself does not upload your saved game or voyage history. This section describes information we do not ask you to enter; Google Mobile Ads SDK data collection is described separately in section 4.
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other contact details
- User accounts, logins, or passwords — the game has no account system
- Precise location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, or files on your device
- Payment or financial information — the game is free and contains no in-app purchases
- Your saved game or voyage log — these never leave your device
3. Data stored on your device
The app saves your progress locally so you can close the game and continue later. This data is written to your device's private application storage. It is never uploaded, and it is not readable by us or by the advertising provider.
Three pieces of information are stored:
- Saved game: your current chapter, stamina, resources, backpack contents, and the choices you have made in the current run
- Voyage log: a record of completed runs — score, grade, ending, duration, chapters completed, and final resources
- Settings: your preferences, such as the interface language and whether in-game hints are shown
4. Rewarded advertising
The game is free and is funded by rewarded advertising. Ads are never forced on you and never interrupt the story: an ad plays only when you actively choose to watch one in exchange for an in-game benefit — currently, reviving after a game over and restoring extra stamina. There are no banner ads and no interstitial ads. You can finish the entire game without watching a single ad.
Rewarded ads are delivered by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service. Its SDK may automatically collect, process, and share the following data to deliver ads, support analytics, and prevent fraud, including when no ad is being watched:
- Your device's advertising identifier — a resettable ID used to limit repeated ads and to measure ad performance
- Your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location
- Product-interaction information, which may include app launches, taps, and video views
- Diagnostics about app or SDK performance, such as launch time, hangs, or energy use
- Device identifiers, which on Android may include the Advertising ID and App Set ID; other identifiers may apply depending on platform and configuration
5. What we receive, and what we never do
The app does not send your saved game, voyage history, or an app-generated player profile to a server we operate. Google may provide us with aggregate advertising reports. Google and advertising partners may process SDK data under their applicable privacy terms; their roles and uses depend on the service and configuration.
We do not combine ad SDK data with your saved game or voyage history. Those game records remain on your device and are not uploaded by the game logic.
For Google's explanation of data use when third-party apps use Google services, see:
6. Consent and your advertising choices
Where the advertising service requires a consent message, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present the available ad privacy choices. You may decline personalized advertising where that choice is offered; the game remains fully playable, and some non-personalized or limited ads may still be available. Declining personalization does not stop all SDK data processing, such as technical delivery, frequency capping, measurement, or fraud prevention. UMP privacy options appear in the game menu when UMP reports that an entry point is required.
The iOS privacy statements in this policy are provisional: the iOS build is not release-ready. Before an iOS release, we will verify the production SDK, tracking behavior, consent controls, and App Store disclosures and update this policy.
Independently of the app, you can control the advertising identifier at the system level:
- Android: Settings, then Privacy, then Ads — you can reset the advertising ID or delete it entirely
- iOS: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Tracking — you can switch off tracking requests for all apps
- You can also simply not watch rewarded ads; they are entirely optional
7. Network access
All story text, translations, images, and game data are bundled inside the app and loaded from local storage. The app does not download game content, and it does not contact any server operated by us — we operate none.
The app has no game-progress server. The Google Mobile Ads and UMP SDKs are initialized as the app starts and may make network requests for consent handling, ad delivery, analytics and measurement, and fraud prevention; data processing is not limited to the moment an ad is watched.
8. Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes the saved game, the voyage log, and your settings from your device. Clearing the app's storage through your device's system settings has the same effect. We hold no server-side copy to delete, because none is ever created.
You can reset or delete your Android Advertising ID using your device's ad privacy settings, and you can change available ad privacy choices through UMP. These actions do not necessarily delete information already processed by Google or its ad partners. For provider-held data or privacy requests, use Google's privacy resources linked in section 5. We do not currently offer an in-app deletion control for advertising-provider records.
9. This website
The site uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, and no third-party scripts. Nothing you do here is recorded by us.
The site is served through GitHub Pages. As with any web host, GitHub's servers may record technical request information such as your IP address and browser user agent in order to deliver the page and protect the service. That processing is governed by GitHub's own privacy statement.
10. Children's privacy
The app's age audience and child-directed advertising configuration have not yet been finalized. Before distributing the app to an audience that includes children, we will verify the applicable requirements, configure ad requests accordingly, and update this policy.
We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information. The advertising SDK may still process device or app data, so child-inclusive distribution requires a separate review of data collection and ad settings.
If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will act on it.
11. Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data held about you, to withdraw consent, and to object to your data being sold or shared.
We do not maintain a player account or server-side game profile. Advertising SDK data is processed by Google and, depending on ad delivery, its partners; we do not combine it with your local saved game.
For advertising data and available privacy rights, use Google's privacy resources linked in section 5 and your device's advertising controls. UMP privacy options are available from the game menu when the service requires that entry point. Our published contact address must be active before release so you can reach us with questions or requests.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the change reaches users, and the date at the top of this page will be revised.
